While we assess all proposals on a case-by-case basis, we do not typically engage in projects seeking recruitment support only, without broader collaboration or organisational benefit.
All research projects must undergo a 4-step review process, where appropriate, before any project can commence. You will be updated as your project progresses through each stage.
Please consider the timeframes indicated when planning your project.
To get started, please complete and submit the Research Expression of Interest (EOI) form below.

The Research Review and Governance Committee (RRGC) Coordinator conducts an initial review to assess strategic relevance, risk profile and organisational capacity and feasibility.
If your project proceeds to Step 3, you may be asked to provide additional documentation where necessary.
Indicative timeframe: up to 2 weeks
Based on risk and complexity, your proposal will be reviewed by either the Senior Research Team (fast-tracked pathway for low-risk projects), or the RRGC Committee (standard pathway for projects with higher complexity or risk).
At the conclusion of this step:
* Low risk projects will be notified of the outcome.
* Standard/high risk projects will be notified of the outcome if unsuccessful or will proceed to HREC review (Step 4).
Indicative timeframe: up to 4 weeks
The Bolton Clarke HREC assess whether the project meets ethical requirements for BCRI and Bolton Clarke involvement. The HREC committee may request:
1 - Amendments to the study design
2 - Additional documentation or clarification
A final determination is made once these requirements are addressed.
If you have questions about engaging with Bolton Clarke or the application process, please contact the RRGC Coordinator.
