Six decades of history for Frank on Del Rosso Road

Caboolture local Frank Del Rosso is now living where he once laid the foundations at Bolton Clarke Fernhill and says it’s been amazing to watch the area grow over the last six decades.
“I was working for the council at the time and we did all the bitumen in this area and I even worked up to Bribie Island, Deception Bay and Woodford,” Frank said.
“I was born in Italy and first came to Australia when I was 19 in 1951 working at an Army camp at Greenbank.
“After seven years of working, I wanted to go back and see my family who had moved to Brazil.
“That’s when I met my wife Maria and brought her, my parents and youngest sister back over to Australia in 1960.”
When moving to Caboolture, Frank purchased 130 acres for a short time before selling most of the land when he started working for the council.
“Del Rosso Road is our family name and is where my land was and for many years we lived on Elva Street where I still had an acre and a half before I came here – it was named after my daughter.”
Frank moved into Fernhill residential care home this year after the maintenance of his property became too much to manage on his own.
“I had lots of fruit trees and I just turned 93 so it was becoming too risky for me to stay there on my own.
“My wife was here about four years ago so I knew I wanted to come here when I needed extra support – I really like it here.”
