Commemorating this Remembrance Day

This Remembrance Day we honour those who have served, and those who have given their lives, in war and in peacekeeping operations.
For residents and clients across our homes, villages and communities the day was marked with significant events.
For some, there were private services with residents laying wreaths or sharing their experiences while others had the opportunity to visit local commemorative landmarks or spend time with servicemen and women.
Mandurah retirement village, Mandurah WA
Mandurah retirement village residents were joined by family, friends and residents from the co-located residential care home for their own Remembrance Day service followed by morning tea.

Seaton Place residential care home, Cleveland QLD
Seaton Place residents held a commemorative event with members of the local community joining to pay their respects and lay a wreath.
Farnorha residential care home, Cairns QLD
Farnorha residents and veterans had the opportunity to sit down with HMAS Cairns servicemen and women. Together they looked through photos from some of the residents’ time in service, exchanging their own stories about what it’s like to serve now.

Willowdale residential care home, Denham Court NSW
Willowdale residents marked the occasion by participating in their own service, taking part in the readings and taking a moment to reflect on what the day means to them.
Fernhill residential care home, Caboolture QLD
Fernhill residents participated in a service at the home including Army and Navy veteran Selwyn who shared a reading and some of his own personal experiences from his service. The courtyard was decorated with memorabilia and handmade crocheted poppy flowers by some of the residents.

Rowes Bay retirement village and residential care home, Townsville QLD
Remembrance Day brought together residents from both the retirement village and residential care home to mark a morning of reflection at Rowes Bay. Together, the community held a service with residents laying wreaths and sharing their experiences for those who served or had loved ones who served.
