Professor Judy Lowthian

Judy is Head of Research and Principal Research Fellow at Bolton Clarke, an Adjunct Professor with The University of Queensland's Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University's School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine. Judy transitioned to academia in 2009, following a career in speech pathology and health service management. Research expertise in mixed methods research including analysis of big data, embedded pragmatic/RCTs, implementation science and program evaluation, has enabled leadership of multidisciplinary gerontological health services research encompassing emergency care, hospital-to-home care transitions, frailty, cognitive impairment/dementia, loneliness, palliative care, and implementation of new models of care with a focus on patient and family experience.

Judy has published >100 peer-reviewed papers (majority as first/senior author), secured >$11.7 million in competitive people support and project/program funding, and presented at >100 national/international conferences (30 as a keynote speaker). She regularly contributes to the scholarly environment through student supervision, thesis examination, peer review, mentoring and media engagement. Global citizenship includes being a regional health service Board Director, Ending Loneliness Together Advisory Board member, senior member AAG Research Trust Grants Committee, alongside participation in various taskforces.
