From 1 October 2026, the Australian Government will fully fund personal care services under the Support at Home Program. This means new and existing clients approved for the personal care service type in their support plan can access personal care at no out-of-pocket cost.

Personal care services include daily activities such as:

• showering
• continence management 
• dressing
• eating
• assist with self-administration of medicines.

Frequently asked questions

I currently receive personal care services from Bolton Clarke, is there any action I need to take?
If you already receive personal care services from Bolton Clarke, there is no action you need to take. Your services will continue as usual and the change to your co-contribution will be automatically reflected in your statement for services delivered after 1 October 2026. 

Do I need a new aged care assessment?
No. If personal care is already approved in your support plan, the change applies automatically.

Will I receive a refund for contributions paid out of pocket prior to 1 October 2026?
The change starts on 1 October 2026 and does not apply to services delivered before this date. Contributions paid for personal care services before 1 October will not be refunded.
