Waterford aged celebrate the cultures of their community

A Waterford aged care home has kicked off celebrations early for Diwali holding their first multicultural event.
To celebrate the festival of lights, Bolton Clarke Talbarra aged care home invited their team members to put on a performance from their own cultures for residents.
Donning their traditional attire, the home enjoyed performances from across India, China and the Philippines in a fun-filled morning of song and dance.
Bolton Clarke Talbarra General Manager Chandani says the celebration was the first of its kind at the home with residents eager to see a different side to the team.
“We decided to celebrate Diwali early this year and make it a multicultural experience for the home,” Chandani said.
“A lot of the residents were really excited to see the performances from our team and some even borrowed outfits for the morning!”
Resident Cheryl was one of the many residents who enjoyed the morning and says it was a wonderful opportunity to see a different side to the team.
“It was beautiful to watch with all the colours and listen to the different music,” Cheryl said.
“I’ve only seen dancing like this on the TV so it was good to see it in person with people I know.
“We didn’t realise how vibrant a lot of the team’s cultures are and it is the first time for a lot of us seeing them dressed in their outfits.”
