Aged care residents wrap up their year with Taronga Zoo

Bolton Clarke Greenwood and Willowdale aged care residents have wrapped up 2025 with a special luncheon with Taronga Zoo’s Youth at the Zoo (YATZ) program.

Residents and students sat down together for the final time this year to celebrate the festive season after a successful year completing an intergenerational zoo initiative that has seen residents visit regularly as part of the Taronga Aged Care and Dementia Program while also participating in joint activities with Youth at the Zoo.

The meal was prepared by Bolton Clarke Greenwood’s Chef and hospitality team while residents and students spent time enjoying art activities and animal encounters.

Bolton Clarke Greenwood General Manager Cindy says it was a heartwarming way to wrap up the year.

“The residents have been expressing their gratitude for not only the program but the time they have spent at the zoo this year,” Cindy said.  

“It has been a wonderful opportunity for residents to view Taronga Zoo and all of the animals during the program in a way that is accessible and enjoyable.

“We could see how the residents and kids got to know each other and enjoyed doing different activities to build those connections across the generations.”
