Galleon residents celebrate in right royal style

A Royal Wedding celebration, complete with an English high tea, was among highlights of a busy month for residents at Bolton Clarke’s Galleon Gardens residential aged care community, on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Residents dressed in finery including tiaras for the event, which included a trivia game on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a three-tiered wedding cake and dancing.

They also signed a card which was sent to Kensington Palace, wishing the newlyweds all the best.

“We had a great deal of excitement here for the wedding, and many of our English residents were absolutely thrilled,” Diversional Therapist Gwen Bonney said.

“The card signing was really fun too – the residents wrote such amazing wishes to the prince and his new bride, and they also sent a card to Prince William and Kate for the birth of their new baby.”

The month also included an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event, raising money for the Cancer Council, and a Volunteer’s Week high tea honouring the site’s wonderful team of volunteers.
