Step up to better health for Applewood residents

A NEW on-site health and wellness team will support residents of TIGCorp’s Applewood retirement community at Doncaster, Victoria, to stay independent for longer.

TIGCorp has joined forces with Bolton Clarke to launch the innovative approach.

The service was launched in January at a function attended by about 100 residents.

“We are excited to have our Bolton Clarke wellness team on site – it’s a great opportunity to enhance the lifestyles of our Applewood residents,” TIGCorp General Manager Jenny Clancy said.

“Not only can residents access expert advice and support quickly from a team based within their community, but they can also take advantage of Bolton Clarke’s Be Healthy and Active education program, with regular sessions set to run on-site to promote health and independence.”

The Bolton Clarke team will support residents with services including:

  • Personalised health and wellness reviews
  • Monthly wellbeing education sessions from the Be Healthy and Active program, covering topics including healthy eating and nutrition, healthy brain-healthy body, skin health, falls prevention and CPR
  • Navigating support services and accessing extra support when needed
  • At Home Support services to help residents stay well and independent.

Wellbeing sessions will start in February.

Bolton Clarke will also base a wellness guide and service co-ordinator on-site and provide a team of nurses who will deliver At Home Support Services for residents.
